What Hair Transplant is All About
One of the solutions for hair loss problems in men and women is the surgical procedure of hair transplant or hair restoration. Although there are many options for hair restoration, hair transplants have been a common choice for people today. Hair loss is both men and women is a problem that causes them distress. If they want to restore their scalp back to their natural and growing state, then the best option is to undergo this surgical procedure.
In hair transplant, hair is taken from other parts of the body and transplanted to the balding area of the head. If there is hair around the back and sides of the scalp, then these hairs are used for the transplant. The parts of the head is where these donor dominant hair grows. When this type of hair, the donor dominant hair, is transplanted to a balding part of the head, there is a very large chance that the hair will grow. The follicular unit hair treatment is the most successful transplantation method. This modern surgical procedure surpasses traditional methods of hair transplant when it comes to effectiveness. The results of this type of hair transplant compared to the old methods is that the hairs are thicker and closer together, and this is due to procedure of making smaller incisions and more precise placement of the hair follicles. In this method tissue is prepared and trimmed using high powered microscopes. With this equipment, surgeons are able to place more grafts per square inch. A highly trained and skilled restoration surgeon carefully harvests the hair follicles.
The patient undergoes local anesthesia before surgery beings in this outpatient procedure. The next step the surgeon does is to get follicles and hair from parts of the body that are donor dominant and they are divided into individual grafts. The balding part of the head will then be inserted with the grafts underneath the skin and are left there so that new hair will grow. It takes six to eight hours to insert grafts into the scalp and this procedure cannot be finished in one session, so there needs to be more visits until all the balding areas are covered. Depending on the extent of your baldness and you type of hair, the amount of grafts can be determined.
There is no immediate results for hair transplant. The transplanted hair will not stay but will also fall off. When this happens the procedure did not fail but this is a normal occurrence. Even though the new hairs will fall because of relocation trauma, in two or three month, new hair will grow from the follicles that were relocated. You will experience normal hair growth and thickening in the next six months.
